Join colorists and artists Donald Kaufman and Taffy Dahl for an evening tour and reception at the upcoming Conversations in Context on Thursday, June 16th. Philip Johnson described Kaufman as “the rare painter who understands architecture,” and collaborated with him on the color palate for the entrance gate, Library/Study, Da Monsta, and the Lincoln Kirstein Tower on the Glass House campus, as well as personal residences in New York City and Big Sur, CA. Join us for an evening of conversation and reflection with Kaufman and Dahl; stay for a light reception at the Glass House.
The Glass House thanks BMW and Design Within Reach for their generous support of Conversations in Context.

If you stand in the Philip Johnson Glass House and look westward out over the carefully designed landscape, you might spot a tiny pink dot on the horizon. This Lutyens bench, inspired by the designs of renowned English architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, provided Philip with a welcome resting place during his daily hikes through the 47-acre site. Philip had the bench painted a pinkish-orange hue selected by the well-known colorist Donald Kaufman, to provide a striking contrast to the surrounding earth tones.
