2010 was a landmark year for the Glass House. We welcomed visitors from over 100 countries worldwide to our physical and virtual sites, launched new programs, and worked to preserve iconic modern architecture. The Glass House led the development of several groundbreaking initiatives including the new Modern Home Survey which advances preservation efforts in New Canaan and beyond; Modern Views--a book, exhibition, and film that brought together contemporary architects, artists, and designers in support of the Glass House and the Farnsworth House, both properties of the National Trust for Historic Preservation; and Glass House Conversations a new public forum that engages a global audience in weekly online dialogues led by great minds in design, architecture and preservation.
Preserve: The Glass House is dedicated to preserving architecture of the Modern Movement. The Modern Home Survey helped add 18 properties, including the work of Eliot Noyes, Marcel Breuer and Landis Gores, to state and national registries.
Cultivate: The Modern Views catalogue includes new work by Zaha Hadid, David Adjaye and Constantin Boym, among others, essays by Paul Goldberger and Sylvia Lavin, and an interview with Phyllis Lambert. Available online at The Glass House Store.
Inspire: Join weekly interactive design conversations with Alice Rawsthorn, John Maeda, Michael Bierut, Alissa Walker and others at glasshouseconversations.org
